Slate & Stone
Expressive, spirited landscapes which connect to the energy of the place.
This landscape is complex and evocative. Rich slate folds into cliffs, salt stained stone worn smooth by pounding wind and sea. The full heavy skies empty into rumbling seas and slide across the land until the two meet.
The might of the industrial past that fought to control and exploit lies weathered and decayed. Rusty rails and chains reflect the hue of the natural rock. The gapping quarry, breached by the sea is reclaimed as the Blue Lagoon. As tumbling stone doorways, arches for climbing brambles and bindweed, great quay stones, smoothed by ages submit to their place as if they've always belonged. The element's dance is a palpable energy which amplifies our insignificance. This series captures my experience of the Pembrokeshire coastline, my home, my retreat.
Each piece is framed to compliment its composition and ready to hang.
